A book to cancel plans for.
A brilliant read.
A page turning thriller with the perfect mix of a remote island, a storm, characters you'll love to hate, and murder. Isolation Island is addictive, atmospheric, and beautifully written, with twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the end.
Brilliant - the best debut thriller I have ever read
Exciting
Gripped me from start to finish
Gripping, compelling and way more terrifying than any TV reality show
I had a storm of a time on Isolation Island, the cool debut thriller from Louise Minchin. A windswept landscape, a graveyard, an old monastery and a gaggle of minor celebrities competing for a reality TV prize... except one is Hollywood A-lister Nate Stirling and everyone has secrets to keep and lies to tell. This is a beautifully accomplished debut with vivid characters, surprising twists and an insider's beady eye on the TV industry. Slick, stylish and thoroughly enjoyable.
If you like reality television - or loathe it - this clever debut from the former presenter of BBC Breakfast, who appeared on I'm a Celebrity, brings it vividly to life...Reminiscent of Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None, but with a thrilling modern twist, is a delight.
ISOLATION ISLAND blew me away. I loved being transported into the unsettling world of reality television, in a way that felt totally authentic and immersive. Lauren is a compelling character to follow, a journalist risking her career to expose a monster - and we're with her every step of the way. A page-turning, atmospheric thriller that kept me guessing right up until the final page.'
Louise Minchin, in her first novel, Isolation Island, brings intrigue and murder to reality television. A group of celebrities must live as monks on a Scottish island while cameras track their every move. But there are secrets to be unlocked and motives to be uncovered. Gripping and filled with memorable characters, this updates Agatha Christie with contemporary ingenuity.
Louise Minchin's debut is pacy and tense with true-to-life characters that leap off the page. I loved it!
Minchin has crafted a whip-smart whodunnit
Packed with suspense, Isolation Island is at once a fraught reality show thriller and a twisty whodunnit that will have you reading into the early hours.
Reality TV is supposed to be fun, but this one turns deadly. Addictive, dark, and darkly funny, too. This deserves to be huge.
Slick, smart and suspenseful
Strictly contestants would stand no chance in this tense mystery.
The TV presenter survived I'm A Celebrity, and it inspired this tense reality show thriller.
This is Minchin's first detective novel, and is well-paced, and reads well.
What a debut this is. It's so gripping and exciting I was up all night devouring it. Using insider knowledge, this is an absolutely cracking and totally addictive reality TV thriller.
